What to expect
Thai massage, also known as Thai yoga massage or assisted yoga, involves massage, acupressure and stretching techniques to help you feel more relaxed, reduce muscle tension and tightness, and get a great night’s sleep.
Thai massage comes from Thailand, with its roots linked to India and influences from China.
Thai massages are usually done on a padded mat/futon on the floor, rather than a raised massage table. Typically they are clothed massages unless they are with oil.
During a Thai massage, we work along the lines of sen (like meridians), massaging, stretching, some twists and gentle shaking to balance energy and improve wellbeing.
As the massage therapist I use my bodyweight, thumbs, knees, forearms and elbow to apply pressure to specific points as well as assist you in stretching with specific moves similar to yoga. You don’t need to do anything, just relax!

Yes! Reflexology is all about the feet! It is a combination of massage techniques and applying pressure to specific points on your feet. These reflex areas have corresponding areas in the body to help to bring the body into balance.
The first part of a reflexology session typically involves a foot massage, using creams, then I use my hands and a reflexology stick to apply pressure to specific points. The final part completes the session with a foot, ankle and calf massage.
Reflexology can help with relaxation, circulation, ankle and foot pain as well as headaches and backache, lower stress, improve sleep, and general wellbeing.
During the session you would lie down on a massage mat, while I work on each or both feet, sometimes with one foot raised on a cushion or stool. Like with Thai massage, you just need to relax :)

They are generally very pleasant and relaxing! Sometimes when applying pressure they can be a bit painful, but it should still be a manageable sensation rather than pain. I will always ask if you prefer a firm, middle or lighter massage so you can choose and tell me during the massage if it’s too strong or light. You can also opt for a Thai massage with oil which is more fluid and naturally applies less pressure.

During Thai massage with oil, I use acupressure points like with Traditional Thai but with fewer or no stretches. Instead we use the oil to glide along the lines of sen (like meridian lines), using a range of massage strokes and pressure techniques.
These massages are great for relaxation, circulation, skin hydration and soothing contracted and tense muscles. The sliding action of the oil is good for getting into typically tight spots like the shoulders, neck and in the back. The repeated action helps with gradual softening, helping you feel looser and more relaxed. I am more than happy to help you to answer any more questions you have about the massages or if you need help choosing.

I usually use almond oil or sometimes coconut oil. I always ask if you have an allergy, but please let me know in any case.

Pindas are small steamed bags of herbs to help to soften and release tight areas before massaging the area. They are steamed and applied to different areas of the body as part of the treatment.
Thai with Pindas is similar to a traditional Thai massage, but during the massage, you will feel these warm sacs on parts of your body, which is very relaxing and soothing. The massage still includes the massage, stretching and gentle shaking methods. This is highly recommended during winter and for very sore areas.

You can choose between 60 or 90 minutes for most treatments. I would recommend 90 minutes as most people say 60 minutes goes far too quickly!
Please check the latest packages as we occasionally run offers combining two treatments.

Traditional Thai massage is a clothed massage so you can come wearing (or get changed here) clothes suitable for yoga or sport. I also have some t-shirts and loose trousers for you to wear. This is the same for Thai massage with pindas.
For reflexology, some loose trousers are fine or again I have some here for you to wear.
Thai massage with oils is not a clothed massage, so you will be under a towel/sheet and wearing your underpants.

There is space inside the massage room for you to leave your personal items in the same room.

Congratulations :). While Thai massage and reflexology are beneficial for relaxation, they are not suitable for your first trimester so please wait until your second and third trimesters. Please let me know if you are pregnant, how many weeks and if you have any symptoms I need to know about.
